This theory claims that white populations are being deliberately replaced by migrants.
The far-right Neue Rechte promotes the idea that a planned population exchange is underway – replacing white majorities in Europe with Muslim or non-white immigrants. Terms like “Umvolkung,” “foreign infiltration,” “ethnic extinction,” and even “genocide of the white people” are often used by far-right and populist actors.
The theory blames “globalists,” “elites,” private companies, multiculturalists, the European Union, or the United Nations. And – as with many such theories – Jewish people are often scapegoated.
The “Great Replacement” theory is a central element of the far-right ideological framework and aligns closely with the worldview of the Identitäre Bewegung [external link: https://www.verfassungsschutz.bayern.de/rechtsextremismus/situation/parteiunabhaengige/index.html] (a far-right group promoting ethnocultural segregation in Europe).
This movement promotes ethnopluralism – the belief that different ethnic groups should live separately to preserve their “purity,” based on shared language, traditions, or religion. It’s less about national borders and more about cultural zones, but the thinking is very similar to traditional far-right, ethnonationalist ideology.
The Identitäre Bewegung claims that political elites are enabling mass immigration to destroy European cultures. This ideology attacks the fundamental rights of anyone who is not seen as ethnically German or ethnically European.
