Prebunking and Debunking

Prebunking refers to the proactive approach of educating people about how disinformation works - before they encounter it. By raising awareness in advance, it’s possible to prevent the spread of false information and reduce its impact.

Debunking means systematically refuting disinformation. By presenting facts and using logical arguments, it’s possible to correct false claims and highlight the truth. Fact-checkersplay an important role in this process: they show where, for example, false sources have been cited or images taken out of context.
